Grant eligibility

✔️ Designated 501 (c)(3) non-profit, fiscal sponsor or government entity
✔️ Located in Colorado and primarily serving animals already in Colorado (as opposed to importing from out of state)
✔️ Proposal aligns with the mission of AAF
✔️ Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, community responsibility, and non-divisive language
✔️ Current PACFA license and statistics for organizations requiring a license through the Pet Animal Care Facilities Act
✔️ All organizations must be enrolled and reporting data to Shelter Animals Count or the Equine Welfare Data Collective, if applicable

Annual Grants
The application for our Annual Grants opens each year from September 1 - September 30. New applicants and past or current grantees can apply for the categories of Colorado Animal Population and Organizational Capacity. Current grantees may be eligible for General Operating funds.

Capital Grants
Our Capital Grants process is open to organizations seeking a grant of more than $100,000 with an existing track record and in good standing with the Animal Assistance Foundation, including funding within the last three years and for an asset such as a facility, equipment or proprietary software, with a useful life of more than one year.

Responsive Grants
Responsive Grants provide emergency funding to animal welfare agencies, typically in times of disaster, such as a fire or other events driving additional animal welfare needs in Colorado. Our responsive grants are available on an ongoing basis.
